Frequently Asked Questions

 

Can I leave my luggage at the guest house? If you arrive earlier than check in time or you wish to explore the city on your date of departure we will store your luggage in our dining room. This will only be possible after breakfast (from 9:00 on weekdays and 9:30 on weekends). We take no responsibility for loss or damage to personal property, but will take considerable caution to keep all property safe.

 

When can I check in and by what time must I check out? Check in is between 14:00 - 21:00 / Check out is before 10:00

If I arrive at 08:00 or later in the morning and I will need somewhere to freshen up - what can be done? Unfortunately it is not possible for new guests to use rooms at this time or before check in time as rooms are not prepared until after check out time (10:00). After 9:00am on weekdays and 9:30am on weekends you may leave luggage. It is possible that your room can be prioritised so you can check in earlier than 14:00pm - you will be advised of this if it is possible. Possibly by 11h15.

 

I am attending a function on the evening of my departure and require an extended check out, can this be done? It is sometimes possible to negotiate a slightly extended check out (around 11:00am) however our cleaner is only available at certain times and if guests do not check out in time the room cannot be sold for the next night. In order to stay in the room until the evening it is necessary to book the room for an extra night. You can also make use of our lapa area or braai areas at any time of the day before check in or after check out. We can arrange for your luggage to be kept safe. All this must be arranged well in advance.  

 

Can I smoke in the guest rooms or other buildings? Smoking is not permitted in the rooms, toilets, the lapa area and doorways. Please smoke outside in the garden area. Ashtrays are provided. Please be mindful of other non-smoking guests.

What is included in the price of the room? All our facilities are included in the price of the room and there are no hidden extras.

Can I receive guests / visitors?  Guests / visitors are allowed until 21:00.  All facilities, including braai facilities are only for the use of paid residents. Normal rates, rules and terms of conditions apply for guests / visitors who wish to overnight. 

 

Do we offer Wireless Internet Access (WiFi)? We do offer WiFi (Capped data). We are in a 4G area if you need to use mobile data.

 

Do you provide telephones in the rooms? No, we do not provide telephones for the use of our customers. This helps to keep our costs down, allowing us to pass this saving on to you.

 

Can I bring my pet to the guest house? Unfortunately we do not allow guests to bring any kind of pets with them.

I’ve missed the first night of a single or multi night stay - will the booking be cancelled? If you are not able to make your first night you should phone us as soon as possible. We can then discuss whether you would like us to try to sell the room on your behalf. Unless we sell the room again you will need to pay for your entire stay if you do not cancel the room within the set cancellation period.  Cancellation policy:  All cancellations after receipt of a deposit will be subject to a 10% admin fee.  5 Days prior to date of arrival: 50% refund; 3 days prior to date of arrival:  30% refund.  Less than 3 days prior to date of arrival: NO REFUND.  Please make sure that you understand this arrangement before making a payment.

Are we small children friendly? Yes. PLEASE NOTE: We have uncovered and unsecure swimming pools so the onus is on you to make sure that you or members are safe. The use of the swimming pools is at your own risk.

 

What time is breakfast served? 7:00 to 8:00 on week days.  Breakfast should be booked a day in advance.  We unfortunately do not serve breakfast over weekends.  We are situated close to the North Cape Mall (same street – left when you leave the Kosmos gate) which offers a variety of breakfast options.

Is there liquor or any forms of alcohol kept in the fridges? No, but you are allowed to bring you own alcohol. A 500ml of bottled water provided.

 

Is there sufficient parking space for guests? Yes. Secure well-lit and marked parking. The main purple gate to the premises is remote controlled. Please keep remote controls away from little children. Be careful when you use the gate and make sure that vehicles and people are clear of the gate track when it is being opened or closed. Although your vehicle will be safe and secure, we cannot accept responsibility for any sort of damage to it while parked on our property, including the theft of your vehicle or any of its contents. Parking is free on a first come first serve basis. We only have a couple of covered parking lots (first come first serve basis). Please only park in the designated parking areas at all times.

Does Kosmos offer self-catering units? No, but we do have a microwave oven (to warm up food), bar fridge, kettle with coffee / tea / rusks in all rooms.  Utensils can be provided on request if you would like to use any of our braai areas or if you will be ordering any take-aways. Please palce all take-away packaging in the main dustbins on the property. Leftover food should be placed in the fridge. This is to prevent ants and cockroaches from making themselves at home in your room. :) 

 

Does Kosmos offer transport to and from the local long distance bus stop, airport, malls, hospitals, etc.? Unfortunately not but we can provide you with contact details of transport services.

 

Is there a laundry service available? Yes, but only during the week.  Arrange with management well in advance.

 

How does payment work? Our policy requires that 50% of the agreed amount be paid as a deposit once you have committed yourself. The rest needs to be paid on the day of arrival. We accept all major bank and credit cards. Online bookings via our partner websites are paid via their respective payment facilities. 

Will you be there when I checkout? Mostly, but if not, arrangements for the key will be communicated to guests well in advance.
